5 Content ideas if you are facing writer’s block

We have all been there, time and again, racking our brains trying to discover what to write for our blog, what to create for our YouTube videos, our Instagram pages, or TikTok. There is a vast pool of information out there and it can be daunting trying to wrap your head around which content to produce, how relevant it is to your audience, and at the back of our minds, will anyone care for it?

Content creation doesn’t have to be an intimidating process that gives you a migraine and sleepless nights. Before deciding on what to create you should ask yourself this question,

What is my goal today? Is it to educate the people on a certain topic? Is it to inspire them? Is it to entertain them?

Because essentially great content is meant to educate, inspire or entertain your audience. Once you have identified your purpose then you can choose from any of the five ideas below and create unique content that is in line with your goals and caters to the need of your target audience.

1. Pick a Niche that you Love and Exhaust it.

This is the first and the best way to create content out there. Ultimately writing or creating content around something will love will generally come easy to you because it is something that you resonate with, are passionate about, and enjoy. For example, if you love marketing, then dedicate your heart and soul to creating content around that topic.

Remember there already exists a wealth of information about any niche that you pick out there. It is up to you to create content that is fresh and up to date and invokes your audience’s attention. For example, if you want to write about ‘Five marketing strategies to use for your products’- make sure to do your research on the latest information and trends about the topic and add your special touch to it. It can be your experience, your advice, or offering one-to-one coaching to your readers.

2. Draw Content from your Life experiences.

Everybody has a bank of experiences that they have been depositing into since the moment they took their first breath. This is one of the best content creation ideas out there because it guarantees your work will stand out from the crowd, why? Because experiences are unique to you and yet at the same time ubiquitous to people who have shared a similar kind. This is a slam-dunk because you can educate, inspire or entertain someone with an event that happened to you. Yet you will have a horde of people rally against you and resonate with you because they have encountered a similar experience. For example, you could create content about the first time you attempted baking a cake and how you ended up ‘burning the whole house down. Immediately you will rouse interest in someone who has gone through the same thing.

Imagine now using your life experiences to teach someone about the lessons you have learned about something. Or use it as an inspiration for people going through the same thing. You will never run out of something to tell or show!

3. Answer the Public’s questions directly!

How many times have you searched something on Google or any other search engine and it presented to you totally irrelevant information? Or information that only touched the tip of the surface of what you wanted to know of? Millions and millions of people pour their thoughts and queries on search engines in search of an answer. You can create content that people are actively searching for answers to.

Answerthepublic.com, Question DB are some of the websites that allow you to type in any keyword and will list to you all the questions people are asking.

4. Learn a new skill and Engage your Audience on your Journey

This is sort of like a documentary on your new and exciting journey that you have partaken in for your personal growth, development, or a hobby for fun. Create content explaining why you decided to start that journey. You can journal every day and let your audience in on every challenge, every opportunity, and every happy and downhill moment. People nowadays appreciate it when you are open and transparent about your life goals. And you never know, you might just inspire some people to step out of their comfort zone and try something new!

5. Use the headline generator

If you want to be spontaneous and create content of just about anything, then google ‘headline generator’, type in a word and it will give a list of different headlines for a topic. You can then choose a topic and create content around it. Remember this is the hardest one because if you pick on something you are not knowledgeable in, you will have to pour in a lot of time to research around that topic before producing anything.
